DAY 20, WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 7
Assignment:
1) Your fourth essay will be due next Tuesday night, labeled "Second Draft for Grading".
However, this time write it in Microsoft Word and just email it to me as an attachment. No Buzzword this time.
This essay will be a four-paragraph paper (using the 11-sentence and 4-sentence formula) on the topic of education or learning (take your pick). The first body paragraph will be about how you think Atticus feels about education or learning. Study pages 39-42 carefully, and see if you can find evidence about his thoughts concerning education and learning. You might have to dig deep. Look for things other students might not notice. Be sure to use a few short quotes to support your ideas. An outline of the first body paragraph and the paragraph itself should be posted on your blog tonight (but not on Buzzword).
In the first body paragraph, use one example of a participle phrase in a S-V split .
Carefully study Lydia Schulz's essay below, and check out my comments, especially those about her use of participles and appositives. She's shows exactly how it should be done.
2) Memorize first stanza of "Barter" for a test on Friday.
